Pioneer UDP-LX500 Cinema Edition is a world reference 4K UHD player for the high-end home theatre systems. Developed for the purest, the LX500 Cinema Edition is for those who demand the best picture quality and impeccable sound from there movies.
The quality of picture and sound starts with the source component, the UHD player. Whether playing a Blu-ray disc or watching a film stored on a hard drive processing the information as accurately as possible without any losses is the objective.
The LX500 Cinema Edition delivers reference picture quality from DVD, Blu-ray discs or movies stored on NAS drives. Images have increased definition, improved contrast, greater three-dimensionality (3D), truer colours and tones so your visual perception is of an image that is more lifelike, and convincing.
Sound is one of the two main senses we experience when watching a movie, and the 500 Cinema Edition conveys a degree of depth and ambience that’s make the movie emotionally engaging. The sound is clean and precise, whether the movie soundtrack, special effects or spoken dialogue there is excellent coherence.
To attain this performance level we have given careful consideration to fundamental areas of the players design with comprehensive range of modifications. This includes the very low noise power supplies, multiple discrete regulation stages, and a highly precise, very low jitter clock system.
Fully Discrete, Ultra-Low Noise Linear Power Supply: The power supply arrangements in high-end universal Blu-ray players are typically configured so that a high performance linear power supply is adopted for the analogue audio circuitry. For the main board (video and digital circuitry), we commonly find these circuits are powered from a lower cost switch mode power supply (SMPS). It has been firmly established that a high performance linear power supply can outperform a switch mode power supply in several key areas. A linear power supply has improved noise rejection, lower output noise, and with no high frequency switching noise, minimal RFI/EMI.
These attributes are equally desirable for video quality and movie sound, and very important to achieve the best performance. The Pioneer LX500 Cinema Edition uses a completely new linear power supply and eliminates the SMPS. The fully discrete power supply utilizes a low noise toroidal transfer, discrete rectifiers and multiple, discrete ultra-low noise regulators. The benefit is a significant improvement in the video image and audio sound quality. For video, there is greater detail, truer colours, a more dynamic contrast, improved image stability, and better depth. HDMI and digital audio is also notably improved with increased resolution, greater depth, and improved sound-stage.
Femtosecond System Clock: A significant feature of the 500 Cinema Edition is the very low jitter clock that is implemented for the main video processing. In the 500 Cinema Edition we utilize a custom, very low jitter clock for the Mediatek System on Chip (SoC). The Reference clock achieves the highest level of accuracy and has a measured jitter performance of 77 femtoseconds (0.077 picoseconds - RMS: 100 Hz to 100 KHz) and +/- 0.5ppm stability, amongst the lowest jitter in the industry. As a result, the video image quality is more vivid image with greater clarity, better depth. Colours are bolder and richer, tones more natural.
RFI & Microphony: The operating conditions of video and audio are much improved when they can work in a quiet environment. Inside any Blu-ray player the video processing generates its own noise as well as succumbing to external noise which can affect the players overall performance. Here we incorporate materials at the component level for optimum power and signal transfer and reduced losses.
High Performance Connectors: It has been firmly established that the quality of AC power connections is a very important consideration in the performance of video and audio. With that priority in mind, we use a PUM pure Copper IEC inlet with Gold plated contacts for optimum power transfer. Hand-crafted litz cabling carries AC power from IEC to the power supply for the highest quality mains connection.
No Analogue Audio Mods: The 500 Cinema Edition is designed as a universal transport for Home Theatre systems. As such there are no modifications made directly to the analogue audio board. That being said, due to the improvements in the main power supply and system clock the analogue audio quality is indirectly improved. Connect your 500 Cinema Edition to your Hi-Fi to play your CD/SACD’s or lossless audio files and you will hear significantly better sound quality!
Multi-Zone Blu-ray & Region Free DVD: This player is Region Free for DVD & Multi Zone for Blu-ray. This is a modification for the Pioneer that enables the player to play movies from different regions or zones. The DVD and Blu-ray region code change is easily done with the remote control from the setup menu, there is no need to reboot the player.
