Magnetar UDP900 Flagship 4K UHD Player... Available in June

Magnetar the European 4K Blu-ray player manufacturer have recently unveiled their new flagship UDP900 which weighs in at a whooping 15.5KG.  This high-end player is aimed at the AV enthusiast looking to get the best possible video and audio playback from collectors of the physical disc.

The UDP900 is fully up to speed when it comes to latest HDR, supporting HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision playback. The player also ticks all the boxes for disc playback compatibility, with support for UHD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D, DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, SACD, CD, Kodak Picture CD, CD-R/RW, DVD±R/RW, DVD±R D and BD-R/RE.

The UDP900 hefty size and weight is accounted for by its ultra-rigid construction. It adopts an all-aluminum body and double-layer chassis, with crossbars, heavy side plates for strength and rigidity. The main power supply and BD disc drive have shielded cases to reduce electromagnetic noise and vibration.  

Magnetar has taken a purist approach to power supply design with independent supplies for video and audio circuitry. A customized switching supply is utilized for the video /digital circuits, whilst the analogue audio section is powered from a 60W toroidal linear power supply.

The UDP900’s analogue audio not only has 2-channel RCA & XLR outputs, but also 7.1 multi-channel RCA outputs to satisfy music lovers. The digital-to-analogue audio stages are equipped with two ESS Sabre DAC chipsets, an ES9038PRO handles the two channel D/A conversion whilst an ES9028PRO is enrolled for decoding the 7.1 outputs.  

There are two versions available, the Magnetar UDP900 Region B priced at £2699.00, and the Magnetar UDP900 Multi-Region & Multi-Zone costing an extra £100 premium at £2799.00.
